The Metropolitan is in the center of the Pearl District, one of Portland's most exciting, progressive areas and one of the nation's most successful urban neighborhoods. Chic shops, striking architecture, and a lively buzz resonates throughout the Pearl, along with green spaces and innovative land use.
Once dominated by abandoned warehouses, the Pearl was transformed in the 1980’s when visionary developers like HOYT Street Properties saw the potential for converting forgotten industrial sites into vibrant condominiums.
Today, the Pearl is a diverse blend of art galleries, parks, upscale restaurants, anchor and boutique retailers, creative living options, and an urban population who thrive on its vibrant pulse. Recently, the HOYT Yards neighborhood has been LEED certified and recognized on a national level for its Green Building Practices. The Pearl District was also ranked number one as Portland's most walkable neighborhood by Walkscore.
